Professional briefing: Public safety and statutory regulation of Health Visitors
Abstract
It is the contention of Unite/Community Practitioners’ and Health Visitors’ Association (CPHVA) that public safety has been compromised by changes in the statute governing health visitor regulation, enacted in the Nursing and Midwifery Order 2001. The Nursing & Midwifery Council are asked to explore how the anomalous position of health visiting as a profession, currently existing outside statute, can be regularised.
